EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

We offer EMDR as an mental health therapy approach in downtown, Raleigh NC, as well as virtually to North Carolina residents.

EMDR is a therapeutic approach designed to help you process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional charge. The therapy involves guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling distressing events. This process helps reprocess the traumatic memories, making them less emotionally intense and easier to manage. EMDR is based on the idea that unresolved trauma can block the brain's natural healing process. It has been shown to be effective for treating PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related disorders.

Brit Guerin (she/they) is our therapist trained in EMDR. They wrote a blog post called "What is EMDR and Will it Help My Trauma?" to explain EMDR more in detail. Read more about Brit's work here.
