All bodies are good bodies...

...You might be thinking "So then why do I have so much shame about my body?"

Your beliefs about your body have been shaped through the media, health education, doctor's visits, television, magazines, and so much more. They may also have been passed down from a parent or caregiver who is also influenced by the same biased belief that thin bodies are better, healthier, and more worthy than bigger bodies. The way you feel about your body is not your fault. Healing is possible.

Are you ready to make peace with your body?

We help clients create a healthy relationship with their body, food, and exercise. We also work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related issues. Through mental health counseling, we will work to increase self-compassion and decrease anxiety to move towards the life that you desire.

Guerin Therapy Group's mission is to provide compassionate mental health therapy that is rooted in social justice.

You might be thinking, how are food and body struggles related to social justice? Negative body beliefs stem from systems of oppression such as racism, sexism, anti-LGBTQ bias, anti-fat bias, ageism, and more. These systems create body hierarchies that tell us that in order to belong, we must look a certain way. No wonder you've been trying to conform through disordered eating and exercise... because belonging is necessary for survival.

Guerin Therapy Group is committed to providing inclusive care for eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and more. We see individuals’ challenges as wise ways of coping from trauma (such as social injustice), attachment injuries, and sensory sensitivities. Our approach is rooted in Health at Every Size™ and Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders™. We use techniques such as somatic therapy, mindfulness, embodiment practices, and EMDR, to support your discovery and healing process.
