Brit (she/they) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), fitness professional, owner of Guerin Therapy Group, and co-founder and owner of Current Wellness, a wellness center in downtown Raleigh.

Current Wellness offers weight-inclusive fitness and yoga classes, cooking and mocktail classes, massage therapy, personal training, mental health counseling, reiki, physical therapy, and so much more.

 

Mental Health Experience

They specialize in working with folks who are experiencing anxiety, relationship issues, disordered eating, disordered exercise, and trauma. As a gender non-confirming person, they also love working with the LGBTQ+ community. She uses a Health at Every Size® approach, a somatic lens, and polyvagal and attachment theory to help clients create a healthy relationship with their body, food, and exercise. They are trained in Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders, EMDR for trauma-focused therapy, and the Safe and Sound Protocol.

They strive to offer a nonjudgemental, compassionate, and collaborative connection for you to explore your life and move towards what matters most to you. They believe that unconditional acceptance and love is critical to wellness, and advocates for social justice for marginalized identities. Your whole identity is not only welcome in their office, but also embraced and celebrated.

Fitness Experience

She also has an extensive background in fitness, fitness education, leadership and mentoring. She has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University, and is a certified ACE Group Fitness Instructor and ACSM Exercise Physiologist.

Along her career, she has taught a wide variety of group fitness classes including yoga, pilates, strength training, kickboxing, and indoor cycling. As of late, they are finding joy in teaching movement classes that foster embodiment and slowing down.

Working as a Fitness Coordinator for NC State University and National Presenter for NETA, she travelled and trained fitness professionals for six years. From 2013-2019, she was a Master Instructor at Flywheel Sports in Raleigh, NC. They have also taught for the Size Inclusive Training Academy and continues to educate the movement team at Current Wellness about how to lead from a weight inclusive lens. She teaches movement classes at Current Wellness that incorporates mindful movement for strength, empowerment, embodiment, and nervous system regulation.

They are a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) advocate and works to educate the community on the benefits behind HAES® principles and the detrimental effects from diet culture.
