Mindfulness

Our therapist utilize mindfulness as a technique in our mental health therapy sessions. So, what is mindfulness?

Mindfulness involves intentionally focusing on the present moment with a non-judgmental, open, and accepting attitude. As a therapeutic practice, mindfulness
encourages you to observe and make space for your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without reaction. Mindfulness practices in therapy commonly include:

● Breathing exercises: Focusing on the breath as a way to anchor your attention
in the present moment.
● Body scanning: Paying attention to physical sensations throughout your body.
● Mindful movement: Gentle movement that encourages body awareness.
● Guided meditation: A therapist or recording helps guide your focus.

Through regular practice, mindfulness can help you develop greater self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, reduce reactivity, and enhance overall mental well-being so that you can cultivate acceptance, presence, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

We love recommending yoga as a practice for mindfulness. If you are looking for gentle flow yoga and/or restorative yoga, check out Current Wellness's movement studio schedule here.
